I live between Dalston and Stoke Newington, but have been pretty slack with actually reviewing too many. Lots more updates to this page soon.

Bardens Boudoir,  36 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 7XJ

Bar and cafe, trendy and relaxed decor with attentive staff. Sells some local beers, as well as cocktails. Gets more raucous as the night goes on. An early evening music levels not too bad.

Black Pig and White Pearls 61 Stoke Newington High Street, London, N16 8EL

High quality ingredients make this Tapas a really find.  Specialities feature the Black pig, hence the name. Also have a basement private room for hire.

Great quality Mangal, less populare than Mangals and its neighbours, which makes it great if you do not have a booking. Very reasonably priced and attentive service. Can get noisy at the weekend with large pre-clubbing groups.

All day restaurant in the former Arcola building. For the descerning dalston diner, rather than a hipster hangout. Good food from brunch to dinner in comfortable surrondings.

Nightclub and gig venue. Open until 4 on Fridays and Saturdays free to get in before 10. Grungy interior is made up for by decent music and good service at the bar. It can get very busy after 1.

Rubys, 76 Stoke Newington Rd, London,N16 7XB

From its humble beginnings this coctail bar has now been afforded many accolades. Very busy at the weekends with the party crowd, but still delivers good cocktails each one with its own distinctive glassware.

Shanghai, 41 Kingsland High Street, London,  E8 2JS

A Chinese with a pie and mash front shop, a much larger restaurant can be found out the back. Great Chinese food, best to choose off the set menu's and avoid the chicken feet. Good deals on dim sum in the afternoon. 2 large karoke rooms also for private hire.

Trendy restaurant serving lunch, brunch and dinner very close to the over land. Minimal interior with a welcoming atmosphere and decent inventive food.
