Liverpool Street

Near my work so have been to most of the pubs, bars round here. No terrible offenders on the music front as it is mainly suits after work, but that in itself can cause the noise level and jostle level to be high.

Alchemist, 135-137 Houndsditch, Broadgate, London, EC3A 7BX
An office party kind of bar, slight odour as you walk in and very loud music. On the plus side the food is Ok and at reasonable prices. Fine for a work night out but not somewhere you would seek out.

All Bar One, 106-107 Houndsditch  London EC3A 7BD

Chain bar, with some good voucher deals online and therefore a favourite for lunch. Gets incredibly busy at lunch and straight after work, but then can be deserted later in the evening. Acoustics are quite noisy and often at busy times hard to hear people further down a table.

Balls Brothers, 158 Bishopsgate, EC2M 4LN, London

Another chain bar, bit has they usually have a bit more individuality than most chains. This is directly opposite Liverpool Street station in a basement. Looks better inside than you would first expect. Has a happy hour every day which makes it more affordable, as prices for wine are on the high side.

The Breakfast Club, 12-16 Artillery Lane, London

A chain of diners with the typical brunch food, trendy decor is matched with loud music. Has the famous basement bar through the Smeg fridge too.

Browns bar and restaurant, 8-10 Old Jewry, City of London, EC2R 8DN

A chain but a reasonable upmarket one. Has an extensive menu which is reasonable if you become 'Friends of Browns' beforehand. You can then take advantage of their Mon-Thurs deal of £29 2 courses for 2 people and a bottle of wine. View full review here

Talk rating: 3/5 bar 3.5/5 restaurant.

The Bull, 4 Devonshire Row  London, Greater London EC2M 4RH

Suits pub for after work/lunch time drinking, does typical pub grub. Now open at the weekends. Noise totally dependent on how rowdy the suits get.

The Drift,
Heron Tower  110 Bishopsgate, EC2N 4AY

Odd shaped bar and restaurant, gets very crowded. better for coctails then wine that is expensive and not great. Servcie can suffer in peak periods.

Cinnamon Kitchen, 9 Devonshire Square  London, EC2M 4YL

There are 2 branches this one is housed under the glass roof at Devonshire Square. It is restaurant and cocktail bar equally with 2 separate areas as well as a semi outside area under the glass. 241 on drinks at happy hour makes it very popular.  Noise really depends where you are.

Devonshire Terrace, 9 Devonshire Square  London, EC2M 4YL

Opposite cinnamon kitchen, primarily a bar with snacks. Has a bonafide outdoor terrace are at the back in addition to the area under the glass.  Expensive drinks with no happy hour currently.

Fish Market, New Street, EC2M 4TR

Down a side street just off Devonshire Square part of the D&D group. Relaxed restaurant with good seafood, good for deals otherwise a little expensive.

The Folly, 41 Gracechurch Street  London EC3V 0BT

A restaurant come bar in a vast space over 2 floors. The atmosphere changes very much on the time of day and week, witht he weekend being quieter. Good food, but not cheap and staff seem disinterested (but after some chat maybe because they said they don't get the tips)

Kings Stores, 14 Widegate Street, London E1 7HP
Newly refurbed pub (2012) with a one floor and one side of the pub dedicated to dining. Food was very good and reasonably priced, atmosphere relaxed with low levl music, have heard they krank it up int he evening.

The Magpie, 12 New Street  City of London, Greater London EC2M 4TP

Very busy in the summer with people spilling on to the streets, inside is an old mans pub that does food upstairs. Had some horrors on the food front, drinks are fine and reasonable. pub has a distinct whiff downstairs.

Amazing views, but expensive drinks and food and is very busy with a mixture of out of towners and tourists because of the amazing views.
